Hop On Hop Off Palermo vs Walking Around

Palermo looks like a city full of charm and narrow streets, so I'm wondering if walking might be a better option than using Hop On Hop Off Palermo. Has anyone compared both? I enjoy exploring on foot, but I also don't want to miss major attractions or waste time figuring out routes. These Palermo bus tours seem like a good overview of the city. Would you recommend starting with the bus and then exploring on foot, or skipping it altogether?
